Mélange de Roses is a set dedicated to Rose: the unquestionable queen, the most dramatic – and lovely – of them all.
1. Portrait of a Lady by Frederic Malle [EDP]:
A sublime rose blended with incense and patchouli. Inspired by the 1880 novel with the same name, Portrait of a Lady follows the story of Isabel Archer, an independent woman turned wealthy and elegant.
2. Delina by Parfums de Marly [EDP]:
Peony mixed with dark Turkish rose in a clash of deep floral tones and sweet candy ones. Delina is both childish and serious, PDM’s first attempt – and a good one – at a femme crowd pleaser, with an enjoyable result of high end elements and popular rhythms with a velvet feel.
3. L’Ombre Dans L’Eau by Diptyque [EDT]:
Rose takes a secondary role here, leaving the big picture to its surroundings. The soil, the branches, the stems, the leaves and the flower. L’Ombre Dans L’Eau is a walk through a magical garden in springtime.
4. La Fille de Berlin by Serge Lutens [EDP]:
The Girl from Berlin is a pungent dark rose-patchouli combo with geranium and sweet honey, a melancholic & decadent composition that expresses the flower in its richest form.
5. Lady Vengance by Juliette Has A Gun [EDP]:
A Gothic rose patchouli with musk. The composition is not something stunning and doesn’t lean too dark, as the name would suggest, but it does have a daring femme angle that’s perfect for office days.
